Starting from his youngest years, Karłowicz was raised in the atmosphere of love of art, and particularly of music. The parents of the future composer cared well for his good musical education, so when he turned 7, he started participating in violin lessons.
During his frequent trips to the Tatra mountains, Karłowicz made a lot of photographs. This fondness of photography later changed into a true passion, and the amateurish photographs were replaced by professional works, often being a very valuable testimony to the trailblazing travels of their author and his friends.
The issues of Tatra mountains were not foreign to Karłowicz from the very beginning, that is, from the year 1889, when he visited Zakopane for the first time. In 1907 he settled permanently in the capital of Tatra mountains.
